Chuck Gray - President of Benicia Little League
Chuck has worked with the Benicia Little League over the last 3 years, has one son playing in the Minor Program with a daughter who will be playing Tee Ball this spring. During his time with BLL Chuck has worked as a Coached and Manager in Farms, a Manager for 3 teams in Minors, Division Coordinator for Minor B, Tournament Director for Minor and Majors and finally as Minor League Fall Ball Coordinator.
In his newly elected role as President of the Benicia Little League, Chuck brings 15 years of business and operations management experience to help improve upon the previous success and established reputation of the league. His focus is threefold – Improve Player Experience, Increase/Improve League Communication – Increase League Volunteerism by establishing consistent process and systems at all fields. When he's not on the field coaching baseball he enjoys spending time with his wife Christi and their children Charlie, Sophie, Lily and Penny.
Tony Longmire – Vice President Little League
Tony has been involved with the Benicia Little League over the last 9 years, currently has one son playing in the Minor Program with another son who also played from T-Ball through Minors. During his time with BLL Tony has worked as an Assistant Coach in the Minors and Farm level with a Championship win last year in the Minor B program.
In his newly elected role as Vice President of the Little League, Tony brings 25 years of baseball knowledge both at a professional level as a major league player for the Philadelphia Phillies and as a Varsity Coach for Benicia High School and one year at De La Salle High School. Tony hopes to use his experience to help improve the success and established reputation of the league. When he's not on the field coaching baseball his time is spent with his wife, two boys and their newly born daughter.
Al Zielstorff – Vice President of Baseball Operations and Safety Officer
Al Zielstorff has been active in Benicia Little League as a parent, coach and Board Member for six years. He has three boys, with all three participating in Benicia Little League. Not only is Al a Board Member, he manages/Coaches all three of his boys. Al is also active in Traveling Baseball and Benicia Stingrays Swim Team.
Al brings 14 years of municipal law enforcement experience and 19 years of military service to the table. Al possesses the leadership and management skills it will take to keep the Benicia Little League Program progressing into the future.
Padraig O’Connor – Player Agent Little League
Padraig O'Connor has spent the last five years supporting the Little League in various roles. He has been involved as a Coach, Manager, Division Coordinator and has spent the last two years on the Benicia Little League Board as the Player Agent for the Lower Divisions working with players from age 4 – 12.
As player agent, Padraig spends his time assisting families with registration; division and team assignment; and all-star balloting. Padraig has the unique experience of having a direct and positive impact to the player’s experience. He looks to leverage his knowledge over the last several years to deliver a great experience to all this coming year.
James Bishop – Player Agent Junior/Seniors and Big League
James has been on the Benicia Little League board for 3 years, Special Projects coordinator for 2 years, which included the teardown and rebuilding of the of the Maria and Ribiero Dugouts, replacing the scoreboards at Fitz and Maria and Community Fields.
James has 5 boys that have or are still playing in the league. He has been a coach, manager, division coordinator for all levels and District All-star Coach and Manager, Tournament Director for Minor and Major divisions and Tournament Director for the Juniors and Seniors divisions. James still has 3 kids in the Juniors and Seniors programs and wants to help with the growth in these divisions. James has 3 boys playing in the Benicia HS program and feels that the BLL program helped in making his kids better baseball players.
Fred Deltorchio – Chief-In-Umpire
Fred has been active in Benicia Little League as a parent, coach and umpire for nine years. He has two children, including one son who is now in high school and participated in little league from the Farms to Juniors level. Fred was also active in Benicia Youth Soccer as a coach and age group coordinator for ten years.
Fred brings 29 years of municipal law enforcement experience, over 11 years in management, to his league position as Umpire in Chief. His goals for this year are to strengthen and improve our already strong program by bringing new umpires into the program and increasing training opportunities for those participating.
Robyn Ballinger - Information Officer and Treasurer
With two children (Andrew and Allysa) in the Baseball/Softball programs Robyn has been actively involved in both over the last several years. She is a long time resident of Benicia and BHS graduate. You will most likely recognize her from registration and tryout days over the last couple years.
Through a long tenure in Management she has acquired excellent communication and organizational skills which along with her love of the game and child development make her a great asset to our league and parents. She hopes to provide more frequent and detailed information in both the on and off seasons. Please also look for and "Like" "Benicia Little League" on Facebook where she will provide frequent updates about what's going on in the League. Robyn is excited to seeing you all on the Diamond and learn how we can better improve league communication.
Carl Rendell – Director of Player/Coach Development and BLL Webmaster
Carl has been participating as a coach in youth baseball since 1979, and has been a part of three baseball league board of directors. He has also coached youth volleyball, basketball, soccer and softball. This experience provides a wide base of knowledge from which to draw from. As a strategic consultant, Carl had the ability to choose any location in the bay area, but found Benicia offered the best lifestyle and a strong baseball program that he could participate in while continuing his long standing commitment to coaching.
With Carl's 15 years of software development, his goals for the board this year are to continue with the work that began last year on or our website and communication tools, and lay the foundation for standardized coach and player training. In the rare times when Carl is not coaching, you'll find him on the water ridding his stand up paddle board.
