BENICIA LITTLE LEAGUE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Little League, Senior League and Big League Baseball cannot survive without the help of dedicated volunteers. Regardless of your baseball experience, there is always a need for your time and talents. As parent volunteers, it is our responsibility to ensure that we provide the best possible program for our children. Please review the volunteer opportunities that the League offers and determine where you might be able to contribute.

As of 2012 Benicia Little League requires each family to volunteer 10 hours of their time each season. If you failed to meet this 6-hour commitment, during the 2011 season, or if you are new to the league, you will be required to pay a volunteer assessment fee this year.

Signing up for volunteer time is EASY. You can sign up for many of the volunteer programs during registration. You will also have the opportunity at your Team Parent Meeting or during the season to sign up for volunteer time at one of the League’s canteens.

Scheduling, meeting and recording your volunteer commitment are your responsibility. If, like our children, we can pull together as a team, we can make a real difference and improve the overall success of our program.

Note: Our volunteer fee is a non-refundable payment that may be rolled over from year to year if the volunteer commitment is completed. Ideally all of our families are able to pay this fee once during their years with Benicia Little League by fulfilling the volunteer commitment each year they participate.

Canteen Volunteer Program

As many of you know, lack of volunteers in past years has resulted in the closure of the canteens on several occasions. This is not only disappointing to the players and their families; it also has a negative impact on an important revenue source to the League. With your help, we will continue to run a volunteer program that will result in fully staffed canteens throughout the season.

The Canteen Volunteer Program requires each HOME TEAM to ensure there is one canteen volunteer per team for each game. The manager of the HOME TEAM is responsible for making sure his/her team provides these volunteers. The volunteers are responsible for logging their volunteer hours into the volunteer log at the canteen and having it verified and signed off by the Canteen Coordinator. This is important; otherwise, the League will not be able to confirm that you have fulfilled your volunteer commitment.

The League is confident that this system will work if all teams and families make a commitment to do their part.

Volunteer Policy

One of the main goals of the Benicia Little League Board is to encourage participation in Little League Baseball, and one of the key ingredients to a successful year in Little League is volunteer support.

To encourage participation at all levels of play, we have provided an updated volunteer list. It is our goal to have 100% participation of all parents or guardians.

We have listed the most common areas that each team will need help in managing and organizing their team for the upcoming season. Please review the list during registration. We have also listed a brief description and estimated time requirement for each position.

If you are unable to volunteer for a team position there will be a $75.00 non volunteer fee. Our goal is to supply the appropriate committees and team Managers with a list of volunteers to help make their team and our league successful.
