On April 25th, 2012 Benicia Little League lost a very special child...

ETHAN EDSON

Ethan was 12 years old and has been playing with the Challenger division since 2009. This year he was on the Scrappers and was only able to play one game this season.

Ethan really enjoyed the game and he lit up on the field. His smile was infectious! When the players from the majors division would come to help with the games, everyone wanted to be Ethan's assistant. Ethan loved having the assistants run him around the bases.

Ethan attended school and lived in Vacaville. A couple years back Vacaville finally started their own Challenger division but Ethan's mom decided to keep him with his friends at Benicia Little League. He rarely ever missed a game.

Ethan will be truly missed by all the people he touched in his life. The picture is of him at his last game on April 21st, celebrating coming into home!

From Our Umpiring Crew - He's Just a Little Boy

He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast;
The bases are loaded; the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad can not help him; he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball nears the plate; he swings and he misses.
There's a groan form the croud, with some
boos and hisses.

The thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum!"
tears fill his eyes; the game's no longer fun.
Remember - he's just a boy who stands all alone.
So open your hear and give him a break.
For it's moments like this a man can you make.
Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget.
He's just a little boy, not a man yet.

Farms and T-Ball Divisions

As you know we experienced more rain this year than we have in recent years. This has put a number of games in jeopardy. We have created what we feel is the best solution with the limited field space to ensure we do not cancel any of the games that we have lost so far this year.

We have decided to schedule the rained out games in Farms and T-Ball for two weeks on Sunday 5/20 and Sunday 6/3. We will have these games scheduled at both Community Park and Maria/Ribiero giving our little leaguers the chance to play on the big fields!

We will start the first games on Sunday at 1PM and the last game will be scheduled at 4PM. We will open up both canteens to support these games.

Again, with very limited field space we felt this was the best solution in order to not cancel games. If you have any questions, feel reach to contact us at info@benicialittleleague.com.

Bat Restrictions Continue for 2012 Season

Little League has continued / extended the moratium on composite bats for all little league divisions. This extension includes limitations on aluminum bats as well.

Before purchasing a bat for this coming season or as a Christmas present - please review the lists of eligible aluminum and composite bats to ensure the new bat may be used for little league play.

Please view the information on our site. If you have any general questions, please email us at info@benicialittleleague.com
